Big Space, Little Space - Detail Model
Design Dynamics Studio III
IRD 300
Big Space, Little Space is located in a residential block in Buffalo, New York and was designed by Davidson and Rafailidis. It is a building that originated as a workshop and has since been adapted into a versatile living space. In the analysis of the architectural Big Space, Little Space residential dwelling, I analyzed the significant elements that denote detail, a specific element of interest. Architectural detailing is intended to make details stand out or blend seamlessly into the rest of the architecture / interior design. “A detailed moment in [this] case study can be understood as a place where you stop, stand and realize that the design of space comes together in that one moment.” The window and its window covering is the moment that captures the aperture between the interior and exterior of the space.
