CONCEPT

The Ordinary is committed to making all its products and services accessible to everyone. They are committed to giving back to the Earth by focusing their energy on five key areas. Those include; Responsible Packaging, Climate Change, Waste Management, Responsible Sourcing, and Water consumption. They choose to direct their product development with Core Scientific Research, studies, and audits. By guiding themselves in product safety and transparency, The Ordinary leads the industry in clean beauty standards.

The product bottle is at the core of The Ordinary’s image and represents a key element of the brand. It is this key element that customers identify with. The silhouette curves of the bottle are reflected in this design concept. As customers enter the space from the street level, they are greeted by the silhouette of the bottleneck of the bottle. As they pass through the corridor, they are invited to read about their core brand and its connection to sustainability and service commitment. Their sight line is engaged as they pass through the corridor to the open and silhouetted curves created in the space to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere. It is here where the full experience is taken in, and the integrity of The Ordinary products is available to experience. The customer is invited into these areas to test products and become familiar with the brand.

This concept is further emphasized by the frosted translucent glass in the layout of this retail space. The use of plaster, brick, wood, and tile materials will help dampen the noise of the outside world. The use of sustainable materials reflects their brand values and connects to existing retail stores.

  • the silhouette of the bottleneck and body of the glass bottle is reflected in the corridor leading into the retail space

  • the curvature of the bottle is reflected in the space in multiple locations, including the curvature of the wall entering the space

  • the roundness of the bottle is reflected in the space as a place to enter and test products / create a custom skincare routine.
